Alpha Liu started learning violin at the age of four years and is currently studying with Mr. Tak Kwan. She is an active member of her school orchestra. Alpha has won multiple awards at multiple music festivals including North York Music Festival (2016) and Music Alive(2017). Alpha enjoys various sports and is an active member of her school’s community.

10 years old Esther Chen is an accomplished pianist and violinist, currently studying with Mr. Elton Kam (violin) and Mrs. Aster Lai (piano). She also plays the flute at school. Esther has won many awards, receiving gold medal last year at the North York Music Festival. She has performed at many places, going profusely to PCCF (Peoples’ Church Chinese Fellowship)
to perform violin. She received First Honours with Distinction in both RCM
level 7 and 8 for piano. Esther has also been rewarded First Honours for music theory in level 8. Esther also enjoys ballet and drama/speech. In her spare time, she likes to go running, rock climbing, do art, and play with her younger sister, Grace. In school, Esther loves to do math, writing, art, and science.

Miranda Wong had played the piano in her earlier years before she discovered her passion in playing the harp. She is a member of the Harp Sinfonia and currently studying harp under Andrew Chan. She frequently performs with the Canadian Sinfonietta Youth Orchestra (CSYO) and the Chinese Artists Society of Toronto (CAST) Philomusica Orchestra. Miranda has performed for various weddings and private functions of corporations such as L’Occitane, Clé de Peau Beauté, and Canada National TV.

Harrison Meng is a 9 years old student currently studying at Steelesview public school. He started to study violin with Mrs. Linda Yang at age 6. He often plays the violin solo at school. He started playing the first violin in the Canadian Sinfonietta Youth Orchestra (CSYO) Junior Strings in 2017. Harrison is the first place winner of violin Young Artist Award – 2017 Canadian International Music Competition.

Trinity Ho is 15 and has been playing the piano for 10 years under the tutelage of Mrs. Aster Lai. She completed her ARCT piano with first class honors last year. Trinity has also been playing the cello for 5 years and is preparing for her level 10 cello exam. This is her third year in the CSYO. She also enjoys dancing, swimming, and sleeping.
Julian Szeto

Julian Szeto, a percussionist who studied music for 8 years. Specialized in Tuned percussion and the snare drum, he can also play many auxiliary percussions such as crash and suspended cymbals, tambourines, triangles and many more.
Julian’s started percussion in 2010 when he joined the elementary school beginner’s band as an auxiliary percussionist. He was obsessed with the sound of the triangle later he continues studying with private teacher \who teaches him other percussions like the snare drum, timpani, and xylophone. He continued on to perform classical pieces with the elementary school band.
After reaching level 5 percussion, he continued with another elementary school band for two years. Winning a gold and silver award in two of the yearly music festivals, his biggest music accomplishment came when he got a chance to perform overseas including in the Sydney Opera House which became one of the most memorable experience to him.

My name is Michelle Ren and I am 15 years old. I currently attend Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School and I have been in the Canadian Sinfonietta Youth Orchestra for about two years. I auditioned in 2016 and I play second flute. I also play the flute both at school and in this orchestra. I have played the flute for five years with private lessons since I was 10 years old with the RCM. Over the summer I completed my grade 10 RCM flute practical exam and I currently play in my school’s band. In my spare time, I work on pieces by Bach, Kohler, and Chaminade. I enjoy playing my instrument both in this orchestra and at school and I look forward to learning new techniques, pieces, and continuing my musical studies in the future.
